Patrick Price, Various Swans

May 26–Jul 7, 2013

MINI/Goethe-Institut Curatorial Residencies Ludlow 38 is pleased to present Various Swans, Patrick Price’s first solo exhibition.

Price will show new and recent works primarily concerned with the fundamental conventions regarding the representation of space in painting. Pitching figuration against abstraction and referencing various canonical moments of the history of painting, these works often take the form of visual puns—invested with humor as much as with painterly ambition.

Patrick Price (born 1983) lives and works in London. He received a BFA from the School of Visual Arts, New York, in 2008 and participated in the Whitney Independent Study Program in 2010-11. He has contributed to collaborative projects such as Dance, Not Yet Titled, a performance organized by Ei Arakawa at the New Museum in 2008, and Exhibition in 2009 (both in New York). In 2012, works by Price were presented in a show room at Bortolami Gallery, New York.
