Tris Vonna-Michell brings his image archive literally to light and sound in ever-changing constellations and variations. For the screening program New-Self-Portrait-Paradox he made a new film iteration of the slide and sound installation Postscript III–V (Berlin) that investigates his own and his family’s stories within the context of the history of Berlin. Anecdotes, image discoveries and self-reflection blend documentation and fiction into an ambiguous form of absent presence on both the audio and the visual levels. A poetic essay on and in photography, spoken words, and stories between personal, imagined and historical spheres.
