Pigeon Feather Stick NYC

Nov 3, 2019

Goethe-Institut Curatorial Residencies Ludlow 38 is pleased to present Pigeon Feather Stick NYC, a play by Georgia Gardner Gray that follows the eponymous protagonist through a dreamscape of his own genealogy and bodily functions.

Part outcast, part prehistoric man, part beatnik, part war veteran, part bird, Pigeon Feather Stick is a blur between a human and an animal. Strangely fecund, it’s hard to tell if he is just fat or able to lay eggs. Non-Binary Sirloin Steak, his meaty friend, is in fact a piece of beef hanging from a string. Constantly overstepping the limit between ‘nature’ and ‘culture’, Pigeon Feather Stick exposes their uneasy vicinity, while his ornery satire warns us of the dangers implicit in our self-conception. Pigeon Feather Stick shows humans to be useless animals shitting from trees and grunting like apes.
