A la Santé des Alliés raises the question of where the drawing of a self-portrait should start. The film is a work in progress that recounts potentially endless variations of the beginning of a film about the meeting of the Syrian and the Lebanese ancestors of Mounira Al Solh. The family story that is told by the angels of its different members recapitulates among others the history of Lebanon and Syria during the pan-Arab movement of the 50s and 60s and the stationing of the US Marines in Beirut in the aftermath of the war of 1982 in a polyphonic manner.

Unfinished Business recounts a forgotten history from a familial perspective: Germany’s involvement in the construction of the first atomic power plant in Iran near the city of Bushehr shortly before the Iranian Revolution. Drawing on personal accounts (Cathleen Schuster’s father was one of the German engineers involved), the image, film and text material in Unfinished Business is drawn primarily from the personal archives of the German engineers who worked at the construction site between 1975 and 1979.
