Coop Fund Introductory Workshop with Emma Hedditch & Ramaya Tegegne

Oct 1, 2019

6:30 pm

Coop Fund is an experimental cooperative funding platform that accumulates financial resources through member contributions, and redistributes small funds to members using a cooperative decision-making process. Coop Fund member Emma Hedditch will give an introductory presentation on the platform, followed by an invitation to discuss and re-orient its nature and potentials collectively.

This event is presented as part of Wages For Wages Against, a campaign on the remuneration of artists and working conditions in the art sector in Switzerland and beyond, launched by Tegegne in 2017.

Emma Hedditch is an artist and writer based in New York. Their work focuses on daily practice, materiality, and distribution of knowledge as political action. They often work collaboratively with other artists and groups, for example The Copenhagen Free University (2001–2008), Cinenova, a feminist film and video distributor (1999–present), and No Total (2012–present). Influenced by politicized conceptual art practices and feminist politics, their work has taken on flexible forms as performances, collectively produced films, fanzines, as well as workshops, screenings, and events.

Ramaya Tegegne has presented solo exhibitions at Istituto Svizzero, Milan (2019); Kevin Space, Vienna (2019); VIS, Hamburg (2018); Park View / Paul Soto, Brussels (2018); Galerie Maria Bernheim, Zurich (2018); First Continent, Baltimore (2017); Fri Art Kunsthalle Fribourg (2015); and Marbriers 4, Geneva (2014). Her performances have been presented at Kunsthalle Basel (2018), Kunsthalle Bern (2017), and the Swiss Institute, New York (2016) amongst others. She is co-founder of the bookshop La Dispersion in Geneva. In 2017, she launched the campaign Wages For Wages Against, for the remuneration of artists in Switzerland and beyond.
