Raoul Anchondo

Raoul Anchondo is an artist and board member of UnLocal, Inc. a non-profit immigration legal services provider based in New York City. As a principle organizer for the UnLocal benefit auction at Klaus von Nichtssagend Gallery in 2017 and 2018 he helped to mobilize over 80 artists, dealers and collectors in support of legal aid for undocumented immigrants. In the studio, Raoul stages visual material from disparate cultural moments in order to investigate histories of place, media and the complicity of the avant-garde with larger systems of oppression. He was an Art & Law Program fellow (Spring 2018), contributing artist to The Filmballad of MAMADADA (2014), and resident at The Wassaic Project (2012) and The Vermont Studio Center (2011). He received his BFA from The Cooper Union in 2011.
